When we skipped over the entries in the new product screen, we created a temporary product, saving time when a customer is waiting. After your first rush of sales, it is time to make this temporary product into a permanent one. Temporary products are just products that are assigned to the temporary department. To convert this temporary product to a permanent one, click on the menu selection, Stock|Starting stock.
The first temporary product is shown.
This is the same screen shown when a new product is detected, but this time, using the mouse, drop down the department combo box and select a department. Departments have been defined for a typical convenience store, but you will be able to change these later to suit your own trade.
Frozen would be a suitable selection. Now step on to the OK button, using the enter key, leaving the Stock entry blank. The new stock screen is displayed. Stock is the Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) for the product. There can be more than one product linked to the same SKU.
Entries for the new stock dialog have been filled in from the defaults for the department chosen. The stock quantity is zero, but this can be changed if you wish to reflect the true stock level. The default settings for the frozen foods department are for zero rate items. We need to change the VAT to standard rate for ice poles, using the drop down box. When this has been done, click the OK button with the mouse, or simply use the enter key to step to the OK button and then press once more. If we had chosen ice cream as the department, then the default setting for VAT would have already been standard rate. Then press the Enter key again to accept the remaining product screen. If there are any more temporary products, these will appear, one by one. [Previous] [Main] [Next] |
