Settings

The Settings screen is reached by activating the menu entry File |Settings and may require the entry of a security password, once one has been set. Just press the Enter key, if no security password has been set, when the Security password dialog appears.
The Settings screen is used to enter values that are unique for an individual shop, such as shop name, etc.
The first entry is the "Logo name". This is the wording that appears at the top of the Sales screen in red and yellow. The shop name would be a normal entry but short messages, up to 20 characters, can be substituted.

The next four entries are for details that are printed onto receipts: the Company name, the Company address, the telephone number and the VAT number. If you are not VAT registered, put a zero in this box.
The next entry is the name that appears in the Cheque payment option (F6) after the words "Make cheques payable to:".
The next entry is the security password. Initially, this is set to zero. When a value of zero is stored in the database, none of the security features are enabled. Once changed, it will not be possible to re-enter the Settings screen without entering the security password, so it is important to write any new security password down and keep it in a secure place.
The next entry is the cheque or debit card lower limit. Values below this limit are not accepted.

The next entry box is labelled Receipt printer. This is a drop down box with the initial option of default, used when no receipt printer is available. The other options are, Star on Com1' or Star on Com2' for a serial Star printer or Epson on Com1' or Epson on Com2' for a serial Epson printer. Two addition options are Cash drawer on Com1' and Cash drawer on Com2' to cater for a serial driven cash drawer, with no receipt printer. If a receipt printer is available, a cash drawer would be driven from a socket at the back of the printer. A new set of entries caters for the ESC/POS command set for printers.
The next entry is the talkativeness which sets the level of speech required.
The next data entry box is labelled Shelf label in mm. This gives the approximate size in mm (top to bottom) of shelf labels printed on the receipt printer. It has no effect when using the default printer. In this case labels may be printed onto small sheets from a jotter pad that is then fed into the pass-through slot of the printer, and subsequently trimmed with a guillotine.
The next drop-down box selects the drive used for back-up. Select a recordable CD drive. If C is selected, or no drive is selected, the back-up is done on the C drive.
The next box enables the video software when ticked and the last box sets the time of day in hours when videos are considered to be late, based on a 24 hour clock.
The box labelled message can be used to add a three line message to each receipt.
The drop down box labelled tax regime allows differing tax systems to be catered for.
The final drop down box has three options; the first is Until logged off. If this default is selected, the operator remains in control until logged off, or someone else logs on. The second option, After delay, will leave the current operator in control until the till has been unused for a short time. Operators have then to log on to operate the till. The third option is Every sale, and with this option, an operator has to log in for each sale.
Two more boxes have recently been added. These are the extra lines on the receipt and the characters on receipt. These settings allow a larger range of printers to be useful. Taking the second of these, the number of characters is the number of characters that can be printed on one line. When too many characters are printed, the line will carry over onto the next line. If this is happening, just decrease the number entered. If the number is too low, the descriptions printed will be truncated. The other entry, the extra lines refers to additional lines that are printed before or after doing an automatic cut. This figure is relevant, even if you are using a tear-off bar, as you may be tearing off before the end of the printing. Experiment with both positive and negative low numbers for the best result with your printer.
