The product table is selected by left clicking the menu item Tables|Product with the mouse. Locate the required product by typing or scanning the product's bar code or by typing in three or more letters of the product description and selecting with a mouse click, using the Alpha lookup screen. Details of the product can then be changed such as the product description. Right clicking with the mouse and selecting the Price change option can modify the selling price of a product. The stock record that is linked to the product can also be modified but the database will only be updated when the database in stepped forward or backward by clicking the 'VCR' buttons with the mouse. The product can be stopped here if required by clicking the appropriate check box. The stock levels cannot be altered from this screen. The Shelf rent is any payment received for stocking the product - a practise of some confectionery manufacturers. It is quoted on a per week basis in pence. Pressing the F10 key will print out a shelf edge label. Pressing the Print bar code button will print out an adhesive bar code label. This is only effective with short Bar codes, such as 1000 codes, on the labels selected, but larger Bar codes can be printed onto blank paper, if required. A useful technique when a stock code has been wrongly assigned is to change the stock code to the code for a temporary product. This can be done easily by clicking the unlink button. A new stock code can then be assigned by using the 'Starting stock Screen. It is not possible to delete a product, or modify a product ID once it has appeared is the sales table because of the relational integrity required. When details are changed, the database is not updated until the database is moved to another record. If a price is changed, and then a shelf edge label is printed, unless the record is stepped forward and back, the old price will be printed. Right clicking anywhere on the screen with the mouse will reveal a Purchases popup menu. Left clicking on this will reveal a table of past purchases and pack sizes. [Previous] [Main] [Next] |
