The department table is modified by selecting the menu item Tables|Department with the mouse. The empty database is provided with default departments, suitable for a convenience store. These can be deleted, and fresh departments added to suit a wide variety of stores. The departments Temp A' and Temp B' should not be deleted, as they are defaults for non-coded items. The departments Agency and Video have special significance, and should not be changed, but may be deleted if not required. The descriptive field may be changed if required. Use the New Record button to create a new department with a unique ID, and then save it by clicking the green tick button. The default margin is the retail margin used to calculate a wholesale price, prior to recording a genuine wholesale price. Products within a department that is restricted can be identified by ending the department description with a + sign. For age restricted products, end the description with the age followed by a plus sign such as "Wine 18+" Two digits are allowed for the age, so if only one is required, make the spare one a space. The other option is for pharmacy use. In the UK, some pharmacy products can only be sold with the pharmacists approval, These are indicated by the appendage "P+". Restricted products will result in a Message Box being displayed after a warning sound. Pressing the enter key is all that is required to continue with the sale. [Previous] [Main] [Next] |
