With products without Bar codes, it is convenient to use a pricing gun to label them with a four-digit code. As the code alone would be interpreted as a cash tender, 1000 is put before to the code for data entry. Reference to "1000 codes" is a convenient mnemonic to remind staff of the need to enter 1000 first. Videos, when not supplied with a bar code, are given a code of 1000 followed by their shelf number. Allowing for shelf numbers up to 3000, other "1000 codes" should start at 3001. If a new product is to be created with a '1000' code, enter the full code as a product ID, which includes the initial 1000. As a shortcut to typing 1000 before each code, the hash symbol, #, may be substituted. This will be converted to 1000 by the program. Thus, if the 1000 code for a product is 2456, the operator can type #2456 instead of 10002456. This can be used in the new product screen and also in the sales screen. The new product screen has a button that will assign an unused 1000 code. [Previous] [Main] [Next] |
